About the Project
“Perception” is a short film about a teenager named Ryan who wants to become the team captain on his high school basketball team. He then becomes angry at Brady who tries to beat him for the spot while also mocking him. Ryan thinks that Brady is the problem but then comes to realize that he is the one who needs to change.
Throughout the course of the story, we see that Ryan and Brady’s perceptions of themselves, others, and God, have been flawed. It’s a powerful and emotional drama that many people will connect with.
We need your support to make this project happen! We are very excited to make this short film. Right now, we are putting together an amazing cast and crew who will be volunteering many hours of their time and effort to make this project the best it can be. But we still have some expenses that need to be paid for - so your contributions will be extremely helpful!
We are planning to shoot this short film around the end of August. We need to raise the money before shooting starts so that we can continue with production on schedule.
About the Director
Luke Herchuk is the co-writer and director of “Perception”. I created this story with my brother Joshua Herchuk. As a kid, I always loved the process of making films. At 9 years old, I bought my first camera and started making videos with my brothers. I didn't think I would be able to shoot anything "professional".
It wasn't until I was 14 that I started taking things more seriously. I made my first short film and then never stopped making films. Earlier this year, I wrote and directed a short film called “Out of Darkness” based on my own personal story. Now I continue to improve my skills every day and learn as much about filmmaking as possible. I want to tell stories that help people understand true life.

Our Goal
We need $7,000 to make this short film. Every dollar you can donate will help us greatly!
That cost will cover the various expenses from production to post-production including approximately:

Any funds above the budget amount will be put into colour grading and costumes.
The Impact of “Perception”
I hope this short film will challenge us all to think about our perceptions and understanding of ourselves, other people and God.
Sometimes we think that we know exactly why others act the way they do, but most of the time, we don’t know what’s really going on in other people’s lives.
